The beaches in South Beach are among the most beautiful in the United States with white soft sand and aqua clear waters.   All year round, the waters are of a comfortable temperature for swimming and other activities.  You want to definitely bring plenty of sunscreen.  There are public restrooms near most major beach locations.  In South Beach, we recommend Lincoln Road Beach, Lummus Park Beach and South Point Park Beach for the best beach going experiences.

6 Awesome Festivals in Miami

Festival season happens in the Summer and it’s all about music. Fortunately, this is almost completely false! Festivals in Miami happen all year round, and each is a fascinating, dazzling, rich experience. From carnivals to dragons, you can find anything your heart desires.

Here are just some of the top Miami annual events:

Miami Carnival

Every October, one of the largest carnivals in the USA happens right here in Miami. 10 mass bands follow the brilliantly colorful street parade. For over 25 years, this carnival has been a joyful, family-friendly celebration of Caribbean culture. You can participate in Steel Pan competitions, Floats, King and Queen election and revel in Caribbean food and drinks, and explore the arts and crafts from the on-site vendors!

Miami International Dragon Boat Festival

More than 25000 visitors flock to Miami in November to enjoy this festival! As the name says, each boat is a Hong Kong style dragon boat – 40 feet long and 4 feet wide, carrying one drummer, one steersperson and 20 peddlers. You can enjoy their 250-meter race from the coast, watching as countless dragons glide through the water. Who said dragons are only on TV, anyway?

King Mango Strut

The last Sunday of the year is reserved for the King Mango Strut Festival! A procession that gently pokes fun at the previous year’s relevant events has been one of the more beloved Miami parades. Created back in 1982, this festival is a procession of everyone who enjoys a good laugh – and you can even participate! If you’d like to take part, all you need to fill out an entry form and you can walk with your own unit or join one of the others.

Art Deco Weekend Festival

Art Deco is a specific style, one that often hypnotizes and enchants. Each January, you can live and breathe this historical period in Miami. “The best 3 days on the Ocean Drive” brags more than 85 events, all with a common goal of appreciating and preserving Art Deco style buildings. During the festival, you can visit the Art Deco museum, dance to jazz, enjoy a classic car show and a period fashion show, visit one of the lectures. Of course, there will be guided walking tours where you can see and feel Art Deco up close.

South Beach Comedy Festival

March brings you belly-aching laughter at the South Beach Comedy Festival. In the 7 years since its founding, it’s become one of the top comedy festivals in the country. Just some of the comedians who’ve performed here are: Aziz Ansari, Lewis Black, Donald Glover, Amy Schumer, and many, many others. No performers for the upcoming festival have been officially announced as yet, but we’re sure you won’t regret going!

Carnaval Miami

A two-week-long carnival in March – is there any place better for it than Miami? Carnaval Miami (not to be confused with the Miami Carnival) attracts about one million people each year and celebrates every known (and sometimes unknown) facet of Miami. Food, fashion, arts, sports and of course music – there are simply too many events to list!

Calle Ocho, which is a regular part of Carnaval Miami, is the largest festival appreciating and celebrating Latinx culture. Each year, you can walk along around 20 blocks of Little Havana where you’ll find a multitude of stages, a cornucopia of international food and sampling sites, and you can even get to familiarize yourself with traditional, folkloric dances. Suitable for adults and children alike, this is a part of Miami you shouldn’t miss out on!

So get ready!
