1. The Beach:
Beachfront property is available in Miami and is open 24 hours a day. Just bring your chair, set up a picnic, and enjoy the million-dollar view, for free. The white sand beaches of Miami are a prized natural beauty that is available to you without restriction. Take advantage of the ocean views and by day or by night, you’ll feel rich and at home among the waves, stars, and palm trees swinging in the breeze.
2. The Metromover:
Getting around town can put a dent in your pocket, but not if you ride the free Metromover! Skip the cab or Uber ride and instead take a ride in the air and above traffic. The Metromover is a great and free way to explore downtown Miami. Take advantage of the fast and frequent service, plus the air-conditioned cars, while you sightsee or bar hop.
3. The Main Library:
Visit the Main Library Monday through Saturday for a relaxing read or to attend one of their many events. The library also features a beautiful room known as the Florida Room that houses some of Miami’s more rare history items.
4. The Little Haiti Cultural Center:
Enjoy an evening out for an exotic taste of culture and music at this Miami hot spot. Open every third Friday of the month, the Little Haiti Cultural Center is a unique place to find your rhythm and groove. Enjoy festivals and events featuring established artists from around the world as well as locally based musicians.
5. Take a Tour:
Miami is full of color and design, especially in the Miami Beach Architecture District. Here you will find unique buildings decorated in popular the Art Deco style. Research the district and its buildings before visiting and take pictures.
6. Wynwood Art Walk:
Satisfy your appetite at Wynwood Art Walk, an outdoor festival featuring food trucks, craft beer, and local music. This event is held every second Saturday of the month.
7. Catch a Movie:
The New World School of the Arts offers a free SoundScape movie or Wallcast presented by the New World Symphony. Movies include classic hits such as Ghostbusters and Princess Bride. Brink a blanket and lay out on the lawn for this family-friendly event; drinks and snacks not included, but permitted.
8. Bookstore Event:
Participate in staged readings and celebrity author signings at Miami’s premier local bookstore Books & Books. The store holds free events multiple times a week.
9. The Museum:
Beat the heat and brush up on your art history and culture and the Institute of Contemporary Art or the MDC Museum of Art and design in the Design District. These two museums are always free.
